The club has been a popular service for Harvard Book Store customers and readers across the country since its launch in 2007!
Each Signed First Edition Club pick is a first edition and first printing, signed by the author, delivered to you in pristine condition with its jacket in a transparent protective wrapping to extend the life of the book. April 2025 Selection
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Dream Count
“Four friends, each born in West Africa and living abroad in the US and UK, struggle to find their footing amid their post-Covid dysphoria. Meek, kindhearted Chiamaka is still lost in her journey to find love; Zikora’s experience of motherhood is nothing like she imagined; Omelogor’s bold and enterprising personality alienates her from her sheltered European classmates; and Kadiatou’s life is completely upended by a horrible act of violence. These incredible women draw strength from each other while navigating a world increasingly marred by injustice and uncertainty, as well as the casual hostility and callousness that immigrants too often face. Chimamanda Adichie spent ten years crafting this magnificent novel—clearly a decade well-spent.”
—Melissa S., Harvard Book Store
"Dream Count, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's first novel in a dozen years, is dreamy indeed. An accumulation of scenes and sensations, cloudlike in their contour, floating this way and that against the backdrop of the pandemic that messed up sleep—and time itself—for us all."
—Alexandra Jacobs, The New York Times

What is a signed first edition? Why is it valuable?
A first edition is the original printing of a book. First editions, first printings are distinguished from subsequent printings, as they represent the closest edition in time and intent to the author's original work. A signed first edition is a unique addition to any library, and to dealers and collectors, a signed first edition is the most desirable—and valuable—edition.
Also, your membership supports Harvard Book Store, a landmark literary institution, and helps ensure that the store will exist—and continue to host its award-winning author event series—for years to come.
