Winter 2025 Selection
Mazeltov by Eli Zuzovsky
“Mazeltov is a tale of many voices, all deftly weaved together to contextualize and universalize one boy’s bar mitzvah. With Adam Weizmann’s big bar mitzvah celebration impending, author Eli Zuzovsky circles through his cast of characters, showing each one’s distinct experience of not only the party but the world around them. From his best friend Abbie who platonically loves him to pieces, to his displaced grandmother, to a Palestinian poet, to his mother barely hanging onto her sanity, among many others, we learn the people Adam is impacted by on the cusp of manhood, whether they be lifelong relationships or people he’s just met. Zuzovsky universalizes this experience, taking it beyond Adam to the socio-political climate in Israel, Palestinian displacement, queer acceptance and expression, religious and national ostracization. Beyond this, the writing is impeccably clean and the voices faithfully represented, making this novel a stunner.”
—Summer P., Harvard Book Store
"By turns hilarious and heartbreaking, Eli Zuzovsky’s brilliantly observed novel offers a kaleidoscopic view of a young queer man’s life, his family and his times, through the lens of his bar mitzvah. Mazeltov is an unforgettable, virtuosic debut."
—Claire Messud, author of This Strange Eventful History

The books in this program are guaranteed first editions, first printings, with the author's signature. Each book arrives in pristine condition with its jacket in a transparent protective wrapping to extend the life of the book.
In addition to regular quarterly selections, members may also receive exclusive offers on other special limited-edition signed books.
What is a signed first edition? Why is it valuable?
A first edition is the original printing of a book. First editions are distinguished from subsequent printings, as they represent the closest edition in time and intent to the author's original work. A signed first edition is a unique addition to any library, and to dealers and collectors, a signed first edition is the most desirable—and valuable—edition.
Also, your membership supports Harvard Book Store, a landmark literary institution, and helps ensure that the store will exist—and continue to host its award-winning author event series—for years to come.
How much does membership cost?
Our monthly costs include the average price of a debut hardcover book, plus materials and handling. Current terms can be found on the sign-up form.

Is there a limit to how many people can sign up?
